In addition to what is provided below, see the People! page which provides information on the historical individuals mentioned in the Mystery; see also Jessica’s Excel document on the historical people used in the announcements (from February 22, 1983 – September 20, 2000), which gives a short biography, the number of times they are mentioned in each announcement, their birth order, and divides them up into job categories. (Read her explanation of what she did here) The majority of names below seem to be used interchangeably by the Orphanage: Sometimes the names refer to the historical person, generally when referencing a quote or particular action; Other times the names appear to be pseudonyms; if not for people, then perhaps for objects that needed to be transported, with, perhaps, the Arbella being a route – or means – of transportation.
